Comic Relief's Kilimanjaro Fitness Expert to Speak at Health + Sport Seminar
Professor Greg Whyte, who trained the all star comic relief team for their epic 2009 Kilimanjaro Climb, will be speaking at 'The Role of Technology in Influencing Health, Sport & Physical Activity', at the Total Fitness health club, Wilmslow Way, Handforth, Wilmslow, SK9 3PE, Cheshire on Wednesday 29th April 2009 at 6.00pm.
Greg, who is Head of Applied Sport + Exercise Science at The Liverpool John Moores' University and Technical Director of Optima-life - the London based Health and Sports Performance company, will give an overview of heart rate monitoring in elite sport and will also talk about sudden death syndrome. Greg, who climbed Kilimanjaro with the team of celebrities, is also director of the CRY Centre for Sports Cardiology, at the Olympic Medical Institute, Northwick Park; the first dedicated centre for sports cardiology in the world.
He will be joined by Nigel Stockill, former Sports Science Manager to the England Cricket team who will give 'An Introduction to Innovative Technology for Assessing ECG, Performance and Recovery in Sport' and Simon Shepard, Head of Therapies at the Hospital of St John + St Elizabeth, London who will look at 'An integrated Approach to Health + Wellness.'
