The Hospice of St John uses Firstbeat technology in a unique project.
The Hospice of St John has been awarded funding by The West London Cancer Network to implement a unique project that will look to evaluate and enhance the Lifestyle and Wellness of patients, carers and medical staff.

In this programme, subjects will be evaluated using Firstbeat HEALTH technology. They will undergo differing intervention strategies and then be reassessed 3 months later.

The intervention strategies will incorporate a significant amount of exercise and this will be monitored in real time using Firstbeat SPORTS. This will ensure that the optimum level is reached and will also ensure that people do not overdo things! But it is not just exercise that is used to help.

Some subjects will go through sessions on stress management, others will look at diet and healthy eating and others may look at Pilates and Yoga to improve their musculoskeletal function and to ensure that it is good enough to cope with the physical demands of their job.

Simon Shepard said “We are delighted that Firstbeat is being used to provide objective information to assist in such an innovative project. We hope that our goals of achieving both a therapeutic and an economic benefit will be achieved”
