NHS workers ready to lead by example

Optima-life is helping the NHS understand more about lifestyle, health and performance. With the Olympics and Paralympics nearly upon us, the team will be monitoring a whole range of staff from across Europe's largest workforce, to understand more about work, rest and play in the life of an NHS worker. From porters to physios, sisters to social workers, domestics to doctors, we will be helping the people who help us, be fitter, healthier and more resilient with life, both at and away from work.

Look out on Twitter as the results start to come in.

If you would like to challenge your workforce to be fitter, healthier and more resilient we would be delighted to put a plan together for you.

Announcing Optima-life Performance and Therapies

We are pleased to have launched the first of our performance and therapy sites. Based at Lord's Cricket Ground we will be offering proactive and reactive approaches, designed to aid health, wellbeing and performance both for the sporting and general population.

Physiotherapy, osteopathy and massage will be offered by therapists who have a wealth of experience in the management of sporting injuries, whilst on the proactive front we will be offering seminars and master classes specifically designed for corporate organisations, where the performance of people is a primary focus.

Firstbeat's Research Partner Publishes Award Winning Study

Overnight recovery is a major part of both the sports performance cycle and everyday living. Firstbeat's research partner, KIHU- Research Institute for Olympic Sports were winners in the coaching category at the European Athletics Innovation Awards in 2010, for a case study on an international level race walker. The study was carried out by Dr. Esa Hynynen.  'The  Firstbeat overnight recovery test was applied successfully in training optimisation and tapering'. Now the award winners' study has been published and we thought you would like to learn more about it.

And finally...

Optima-life's Firstbeat technology continues to perform at the highest level across the globe. Real time monitoring is proving a big hit in Australia and both Professional Aussie Rules teams Fremantle and Hawthorn, who play in the AFL Premiership are delighted with the technology. On the subject of Firstbeat Sports users, huge congratulations to Saracens RFC, on making it through to the finals of the Heineken Cup. Also to Liverpool FC, on their recent run of great form, seeing them through to the League Cup Final and the next round of the FA Cup. World bronze medallists Sophie Hoskings and Hester Goodsell  also continue to make the headlines, finishing first and second respectively at the GB Rowing long distance trials; their first step towards Olympic selection.
